Kacey Musgraves will release Middle of Nowhere Vol. 2: Tex Mex Tapes on January 15, 2027, through Lost Highway Records. The sixteen-song collection explores musical connections between Texas and Mexico, including four songs performed entirely in Spanish.
Two previews, “Weekend in Texas” and a version of the Norteño standard “Mi Tesoro,” arrived with the October 23 announcement. The album also includes a newly recorded Spanish-language version of “Uncertain, TX” featuring Intocable.
The project continues the world of Middle of Nowhere, released in May, while placing shared regional traditions more directly in the foreground. Its themes include solitude, contentment and finding value in transitional moments. Musgraves was completing her current tour when the new collection was announced. The January date applies to the full album; the two advance songs already provide an introduction to its cross-border direction.
