John Legend released Muse on October 23 through Republic Records. Pharrell Williams produced and co-wrote the full album, marking the longtime collaborators’ first complete album together after more than twenty years of friendship.
The release includes a video for “Bodies on the Floor,” featuring Clipse. Directed by Paul Hunter and produced by PRETTYBIRD, the black-and-white film follows a relationship caught between conflict and reconciliation, with Legend performing at a piano and Clipse appearing for their verses.
Legend wrote the song’s lyric with Samm Henshaw. The album developed after Legend contributed to Clipse’s Let God Sort ’Em Out, where his appearance on “The Birds Don’t Sing” prompted Williams to build a larger project around his voice. Muse brings that exchange back into a full-length release centered on Legend’s singing.
