London-based artist Bluegirl has released her debut single, “Look at All the Happy People,” through Capitol UK and Darkroom Records. The October 23 release arrives with a visualizer after an early online excerpt drew listeners to the song.
Bluegirl is the performer, songwriter and producer behind the project. Before introducing her own music, she worked behind the scenes on records for other artists. The new single centers on a desire for connection, placing introspective writing inside an expansive pop framework.
According to the official announcement, a privately shared SoundCloud demo passed 66,000 plays in less than a month after interest in the excerpt grew. That early response preceded the finished commercial release. With no debut-album date supplied in the announcement, the single serves as the first public statement from an artist now moving from production work into her own recording career.
