Maya Delilah has released “Been Here Before,” a collaboration with Aquilo, the duo of Tom Higham and Ben Fletcher. The single arrived October 23 as the London singer, songwriter and guitarist’s first new material since the deluxe edition of her debut album.
The official announcement describes the song as a response to a relationship that diminishes someone’s sense of self. Delilah frames the writing around self-respect and recognizing the need for a different kind of partnership.
The release follows The Long Way Round and a run of international performances that included Japan’s Fuji Rock and the Newport Jazz Festival in the United States. “Been Here Before” introduces the collaboration as a standalone release. The announcement does not identify a new album or promise a larger joint project, leaving the new song itself as the focus of this next step.
