Giant Rooks released their third studio album, If Heaven Exists, This Might Be It, on October 16. The twelve-song project follows Rookery and How Have You Been? and develops themes of connection, memory, loneliness and friendship.
Sessions took place in the United Kingdom at Angelic Studios and Real World Studios. According to the official release, the band pursued an immediate, hands-on approach, building the project from concepts and demos developed over roughly a year and a half.
Advance songs included “The Future Is Cancelled,” “Want It Back,” “The Waves” and “Slow Dance (For a Minute).” They form the entry points to a record the group describes as a search for authenticity and a response to alienation. The full album is now available; this report covers its release and recording background rather than assigning a review score.
