Lee Chang-dong’s short film Heartbeat will become available worldwide on Netflix on November 2. The announcement arrives ahead of the director’s feature Possible Love, scheduled to stream on November 6.
The short follows a boy, played by Kim Geon-u, who becomes frightened when his mother does not answer the phone. Jeon Do-yeon plays his mother, and Sul Kyung-gu provides his father’s voice. Netflix says the project originated with the World Health Organization and the Beijing Contemporary Art Foundation. Its release adds another entry point into Lee’s filmography, with subtitles offered in several languages.
