Carlos de Jacoba and Ciutat released “Rio” on October 23, offering the second preview of Blanco Envidia. The collaboration places flamenco guitar and singing alongside pop synthesizers and vocoder.
The song uses the river as a central image, leaving room for ideas about movement, desire, separation and choosing a path. In the official announcement, the project is framed as an encounter between inherited musical language and newer production tools.
A video directed by Anxo Casal accompanies the release. The pairing of de Jacoba and Ciutat makes that meeting of approaches the organizing idea of the record, rather than a decorative addition to one single. “Rio” provides another view of the forthcoming collection, with the finished track available digitally as the project’s rollout continues.
