Sarah Vanderzon released “Red Label Bourbon” on October 16 through Universal Music Canada. The folk-Americana song examines the tension between loving someone and holding them responsible for pain, while also turning its attention toward the narrator’s own regret.

The recording is built around Vanderzon’s acoustic guitar, with pedal steel, bass, drums, electric guitar, piano, organ and tambourine expanding the arrangement. The official release identifies live recording and an uncorrected vocal approach as part of her pursuit of an organic sound.

Vanderzon uses concrete images, including stored tapes and an altered script, to give the emotional argument a physical setting. The song arrives alongside an Ontario touring schedule extending from late October into November. It is presented as a new single; the announcement does not attach it to a confirmed album title or release date.
